J K Rowling wins US Best Seller Award

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” has won the US Best Seller Award for books for the year of 2005, despite having only gone on sale two weeks before the closing date. Over 600,000 copies have been sold in the US, selling nearly 3 times as many as its nearest competitor, Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”. The strong performance of the novel also helped Scholastic, Harry Potter’s US publisher, drop its losses down to $21million from $50million a year ago.
